By the Numbers

Since opening our first grant cycle in 2018, the California Fire Foundation has awarded 617 projects totaling more than $11.4 million in direct support for awardees actively serving high fire or other disaster threat regions and/or under-resourced communities across California. Each year, requests for grant funding become more competitive, resulting in difficult funding decisions due to the number of worthy proposals exceeding available resources.

Our grantees are actively addressing some of the state’s toughest climate-driven disaster needs. In 2023, thanks to the generous support of our major funding partners, the California Fire Foundation awarded over $1.38 million in support of 86 prevention, preparedness, relief and recovery projects statewide. In 2022, we awarded more than $1.95 million in support of 116 projects.
